Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG) also known as Paris Roissy is one of the international airport and busiest passenger airport in Europe and is the larger of Paris’ two airports. History of the CDG Airport
Charles De Gaulle Airport is named after Charles De Gaulle, the former French president. The president Charles de Gaulle led the Free French Forces during the Second World War prior to the establishment of the French Fifth Republic, the constitution under which France operates today.
In the past it was known as Airport de Paris Nord (Paris North Airport).But after the eight years of reconstruction it was re-opened as Paris-Charles De Gaulle in March 1974.Since that it is one of the most astonishing and modern airports in the world.
Terminals of CDG
There are three terminals in the Charles De Gaulle Airport. The terminal 1 is the oldest terminal and also it is situated in the opposite direction of the terminal 3.Terminal 2 has 7 sub terminals which as known as 2A-2G, so altogether CDG has 9 terminals.
Terminal 1 of the CDG airport was designed by Paul Andreu. It was built according to the image of an octopus. There is a ten floor high circular terminal building surrounded by seven satellite buildings, each with four gates which houses key functions such as check-in counters and baggage claim conveyors.

Terminal 2 of the CDG airport was built in more complex structure. It divides into 7 sub terminals and they are known as 2A to 2G as mentioned above with the TGV-RER railway station. And also every terminal, including TGV-RER and CDG VAL stations, are connected to each other (except terminal 2G) and can be reached by foot (land side) or by free shuttle bus .
Terminal 3 is situated 1 km (0.62 mi) away from Terminal 1. It has separate buildings for arrivals and departures. The distance between Terminals 1 and 3 is 3 km (1.9 mi) long, and the rail station which is named as “CDG Airport Terminal 1” for RER and CDGVAL trains are only at a distance of 300 m. Terminal 3 has no boarding gates constructed and all passengers are carried via boarding buses to the aircraft stands.
All these three terminals are connected to shuttle buses. And also if anyone prefer they can take cab from CDG airport or taxi from CDG airport. Not only them shuttle services are also available. So anyone can use shuttle to start journey from Charles De Gaulle Airport.
